Joe McLaughlin, Founder and Managing Partner
Joe has specialized in tenant representation for over a decade. Joe has consummated transactions totaling in excess of a million square feet as the exclusive broker for a multitude of companies across a wide range of industries.
Prior to founding Capstone Realty Advisors, Joe owned and operated a successful courier service in Manhattan. He then entered commercial real estate as a leasing agent for several properties in Midtown. Having gone through the process of finding office space for his courier company and later representing landlords as a commercial leasing agent, Joe has firsthand experience from both sides of a real estate transaction.
Joe graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics.
Thomas Murtha, Partner
Thomas is a Capstone Realty Advisors Partner. Since joining the firm shortly after inception, he has been instrumental in business development and has proven strategies to help tenants achieve the best possible outcomes in their leasing endeavors.
Over the course of his career he has satisfied hundreds of office leasing requirements on behalf of a large variety of industries including software, advertising, finance, media, fashion, architecture, and many more. Intimate market knowledge, strong client relationships, and the ability oversee a transaction from beginning to end has afforded Thomas success in the commercial real estate industry.
Prior to Capstone, he interned at the CB Richard Ellis Hartford office, and received a BS in Political Philosophy and History from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Thomas is an avid ice hockey player and golfer.
Dominique Alexander, Associate
Dominique returned to New York City after graduating from Villanova University. Born and raised in the New York City area, she has a natural interest in the New York City Real Estate market.
While living in Philadelphia, Dominique worked as an investment banking analyst at PNC Capital Markets. Now back in New York, she is eager and excited to utilize her analytical skills and strong work ethic in the Commercial Real Estate Industry, assisting her clients in finding the most suitable space for their firm’s needs. Working in a hands on environment at Capstone Realty has already strengthened Dominique’s knowledge of the Manhattan Real Estate market, promising a bright and successful career as a Tenant Rep Broker in the industry. She is happy to represent Capstone Realty and has thus far added immeasurable value to the team.
In her spare time, Dominique enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She graduated from Villanova University’s School of Business with a degree in Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelors of Science in Economics.
Don Curry, Associate
Don Curry is an associate at Capstone Realty specializing in tenant representation. He delivers commercial real estate solutions for small and mid-sized clients seeking office space in New York City.
Don has a background in finance, as an analyst at a top global investment bank, and an associate at a boutique firm specializing in energy project finance. His economic research has been published by Bloomberg Press, and presented in Davos at the World Economic Forum, where he worked as a research analyst.
Don attended graduate school at Columbia University, earning a Master's in Environmental and Energy Economics, and at Rutgers Business School, earning a Master's in Business Administration, with a specialty in Finance. He completed his Bachelor's at Rutgers University as student body president, and is an active member of both the Columbia and Rutgers Alumni Associations.
Michael Jaffee, Associate
Michael is an Associate with Capstone Realty. Michael's primary responsibility is as a tenant rep agent, but he also constantly seeks to increase Capstone's marketing opportunities in the creative loft space marketplace.
Since joining the firm, Michael has brought enthusiasm and gravitas to the Capstone work environment while attracting clientele that includes tech startups, financial services institutions, and liberal arts studios. Prior to joining Capstone, Michael worked as the Global Public Relations Coordinator with an international management consulting firm.
Michael graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Latin American studies. In his spare of time, he enjoys hiking with his dog in the Catskills and finding investment opportunities in the Caribbean.
Chelsea Merrifield, Associate
Chelsea began her career with Capstone Realty Advisors as the Office Manager. In less than one year she grew within the company and became a Licensed Broker.
Chelsea was hired by the publishing company Vendome Group to help dispose of their excessive 11,000 sq. ft. office on Fifth Avenue in Flatiron and helped to relocate their office to a more cost and size efficient space. Most recently she relocated the successful and rapidly growing company Sitter Studio to their larger, new headquarters in Midtown.
The combination of her education and background in the design and business programs at FIT strengthen her natural ability to visualize, manage, and execute real estate transactions for creative companies in New York City in an efficient and satisfying fashion.
Chelsea has an AAS Degree in Fashion Design and will be receiving her BA Degree in Production Management: Fashion and Related Industries from the Fashion Institute of Technology
Kevin Phelan, Director
Kevin is an Associate Director at Capstone Realty. Phelan is responsible for growing Capstone's client base and managing the tenant representative team.
Since joining the firm, Phelan has created a style that has led him to establish strong relationships with a variety of companies, including technology, financial services, fashion, and creative firms. Phelan prides himself on maintaining long term relationships with his clients.
Prior to joining Capstone, Phelan worked as an insurance benefits consultant in New York City with Fortis Bank of Belgium.
Phelan graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelors of Arts degree in management. In his spare of time, Phelan enjoys playing in a competitive soccer league and spending time with family and friends.
Jarad Winter, Associate Director
Jarad is an Associate and Licensed Real Estate Broker at Capstone Realty Advisors, specializing in tenant representation in Manhattan. His primary focus is representing companies in office relocation, lease renewals, and space disposition. In addition to this, Jarad is also focusing on representing creative loft office suites in Chelsea.
Jarad is combining his background and experience in commercial real estate along with his education to provide commercial real estate services to many different companies in Manhattan. His past business experience shows a proven track record of consistently exceeding customer expectations. His main goal is to provide the best possible service in the consultation and transaction process.
His transaction history includes relocating The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (a non-profit organization), Woo Art (a proven production company), and Kettle: Digital Solutions (a digital application agency). Jarad has also successfully represented TECNY Group Inc. in leasing their creative loft office suites.
Jarad graduated from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Business Management.
